ITINERARY

Day by Day

Day One: Departure

Board for your flight from the USA to Greece. This will be an overnight flight, arriving the next day to Athens.

Day Two: Welcome to Greece!

Upon arrival at Athens International Airport, meet our local representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Enjoy an orientation panoramic tour of the city, before check-in & dinner at your hotel. Your journey to the Biblical land of Greece begins!

Day Three: Athens City Tour, The Parthenon & Mars’ Hill

After a great night of rest & breakfast, we start our Greece tour with climb up the Acropolis Hill to see the famous Parthenon and Erectheion temples and the spectacular views of Athens below. Then walk to nearby Mars’ Hill (Acts 17:22) where the Apostle Paul spoke to the Athenians about the one and only God. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure in Plaka, the oldest and most picturesque district of Athens. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day Four: Ancient Corinth Tour

Following breakfast, and depart for our morning tour out of Athens. Driving along the Saronic Gulf, we enjoy a quick photo stop at the historic Corinth Canal. Continue to the Ancient Corinth archaeological site (Acts 18:1-18) where the Apostle Paul lived and worked, establishing a thriving church. Here, we see all of the sites associated with his ministry: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema. We’ll return to the hotel in Athens in the afternoon after a quick stop at Cenchrea port, where Paul sailed for Ephesus. The evening will be free to explore the historical and modern center of the city, followed by dinner at the hotel.

Day Five: Philippi, Kavala & Thessaloniki

Today we will have an early breakfast, and head to the Athens airport for an early flight to the city of Thessaloniki. After arrival, we drive by the Lion Statue of Amphipolis (short stop for photos). We will also stop at the Baptistery of St. Lydia, where see the river where Lydia is said to have been baptized. We continue to Philippi, the site where Paul established a strong church and sent his letter (Acts 16:9-33). Here we will see the ruins of a prison where the Apostle Paul and Sylas had been kept, the Agora, & a 5th and 6th century Basilica and the Theater. After the visit we continue to Kavala, the ancient port of Neapolis (Acts 16:11) where we enjoy a panoramic tour before returning to Thessaloniki for dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day Six: Thessaloniki City Tour

After our breakfast, we head out and enjoy a morning panoramic city tour of Thessaloniki. Paul went to the synagogue in Thessaloniki for three Saturdays and explained the prophecies of the Old Testament to Jews and Greeks. According to the Book of the Acts, many Greeks and even many Greek chief women believed (Acts 17:1-4). We go to the upper Old City Walls, then drive along the Egnatian Way to see the Triumphal Arch of Galerius and the Rotunda. We will end our day with free time in the city before heading back to our hotel for dinner & overnight stay.

Day Seven: Fly to Turkey!

Today we will check out of our hotel, and transfer to Thessaloniki airport for your morning flight to Izmir, Turkey. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to hotel for dinner and stay. Welcome to Turkey!

Day Eight: The Seven Churches-Pergamum & Thyatira

This morning following breakfast, we’ll meet your guide and begin your drive to Pergamum, one of the sites of the Seven Churches of Asia (Rev. 2:12-17). Here we explore the impressive Acropolis, the steepest theatre in the world, the Asklepion, a famous medical Centre of classical times, see the Altar of Zeus which is mentioned as the Throne of Satan in the book of Revelation, the marble columns of the Temple of Trajan and the Library, which was a rival of the equally famous Library of Alexandria in Egypt. Its wealth of volumes was estimated at over 200,000. Then we continue our visit to Thyatira, another one of the Seven Churches of Asia (Rev. 2:18-29) and famous for purple dyes. We visit the remains of a basilica and some architectural fragments from the Roman period. Lydia, the seller of purple in Philippi, was from Thyatira. Drive back to your hotel for dinner and overnight in Izmir.

Day Eight: The Seven Churches Continued-Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea, Hierapolis

After an early breakfast, we have a morning departure to one of the most picturesque areas of any of the Seven Churches of Asia, Sardis (Rev. 3:1-6]. This was the capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom of the 6th century BC, portrayed as a dying church. We visit the great Temple of Artemis and the restored gymnasium and reconstructed Synagogue. Then we continue our journey to Philadelphia, another church of the Seven Churches of Asia (Rev. 3:7-13). Continue to Laodicia, the last of the seven Churches (Rev. 3:14-22). We drive to the city of Pammukale, the white cotton fortress where hot mineral water bursts from the earth and cascades over steep cliffs forming pools, channels and stalactites. Check in at our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day Nine: The Seven Churches Continued-Ephesus & Smyrna

Today we visit the ancient city of Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7). The Apostle Paul preached to the Ephesians and lived here for three years. We tour the spectacular ruins where excavations still continue to this. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian and the ancient theatre. We visit the Basilica of St. John and the House of Virgin Mary. Afterwards we drive to the city of Smyrna, to visit the ancient Agora (Rev. 2:8-11). We’ll then drive back to Kusadasi to check into the hotel for dinner.

Day Ten: Transfer Home!

This morning we’ll transfer you to Izmir airport for your departure flight home. May the memories of walking through the lands of the Bible inspire your faith—and bring you back to Greece and Turkey once more!
