Seat assignments vary from airline to airline, and also depend on the type of ticket you booked. The Airlines have become very strict with charging for seating and not pre-assigning seats. You will be advised at the time of ticketing on your seating, and whether it will be assigned, if you have to purchase, or if you need to assign them at check-in 24-48 hours prior to departure.
Most airlines release fares 10–11 months in advance. Some airlines release them 8-10 months in advance for Group fares.
Basic economy offers the lowest fare but with restrictions (seat selection, changes, baggage). Economy is standard, and premium economy gives extra space and comfort. There are also Business class & First class fares available.

Report it to the airline’s baggage service desk immediately. Most bags are tracked and delivered within a few days. Keep receipts if you need to purchase essentials, as airlines may reimburse you.
